hey, thanks for the suggestion. yes, i've produced just such a washer and am still having the problem. I ended up still having to use a bit of impact/chisel to get the thing started. i remember taking care not to overdo the tightening when i put the thing in before - don't know if it could be heat related or what but it was frozen tight this time as well. chisel loosened it up enough to turn but, of course, the cap cracked. i've got a new one on order (again) and intend to use even less torque than last time in putting it back in but i'm thinking i'd like something i can get a wrench on a bit better. thanks much.
